Foster & Boys
New Zealand
Приєднався 31 січ 2018
G’day, im Matty Boys and I'm from the south of New Zealand. An Iron Ore miner by trade, I work in the Pilbara desert in Western Australia flying home in my break to make knives & leather goods.
The "Foster" in Foster & Boys was inspired by my late Grandparents, Johnny and Audrey Foster. They came from incredibly humble backgrounds but were both very gifted at their craft. I would spend hours with my Grandad in his workshop making all kinds of things, and many of the tools that I use to make my knives were handed down to me from him. I like to think anything I make has a little piece of them in it too.

May I ask what stitching chisel you are using in the video? Thanks
Wow, very nice!
I am an amateur leathercraftsman, and have begun a bushcraft utility belt. And I finished my multitool pouch before watching this. You make it look so easy to make it so clean and symmetrical. I hope I can get to a level like this.
I see you like Johnny Cash 🙂
Nicely done
Beautiful job ❤
unnecessary weight on handle with brass material. its lookin nice, i love it👍
the handle is stabilized or it is just natural wood ?? amazing job
This one had unstabilized walnut, knife was made several years ago and still going strong
Beautiful sheath! Who made your stamp? I want to get one with my logo!
Dog jumps, knife catches on sander, knife is airborne. Dangerous, I like it lol.
GREAT JOB👏👏👍👍being retired now 38yrs logging I took up knife building & your work is fantastic sir👍👏I am learning every day thanks
Once you start you will never stop all the best
The brass liners under the handle scales really make that handle pop!! Beautiful knife, mate!! Earned a follower here today! 😊
Thank you sir!
👍🏻
If this gets remotely damp it will rub dye off onto the clothes/belt of whoever is wearing it, you never sealed the dye
Sealed with resolene but thanks, the owner has worn it for years with no problem
Fantastic work, and amazing choice of music. Keep it up!
Is there any reason why you don’t preshape a knife scale closer to the tang (ie: with a jigsaw) - so you have smaller offcut scales for smaller pocket knives or kitchen knives? To me, it means less grinding, and opportunity to reuse the offcut pieces. But - I’m super cheap
Yes this is something I now do, as you say to reduce the cost of consumables and minimise dust
Thank for the vid bro its helpful to new guys like me !
How much for that in the states brother?
I need butcher knife
Reply me please

Is that a Chinese accent I hear?

As a butcher that knife looks like it would work butifely for skinning beef an higs an has a nice smooth Handel would definitely take one of these over a Dexter Russell skinning knife any day
This is awesome.. do you make them for any other leatherman models? I have a charge +
No, sorry, only the Surge
That was fantastic 👍
Thankyou!
Kult 👍 har sansen for denne filmen 🤠

Not only a helpful video, but soothing to watch as well. I'm a new leatherworker and I was glad to learn some new little habits just from watching you. Somehow I appreciate the silence as well: Some instructors are too chatty on UA-cam ;) You've got yourself a new subscriber.
Thankyou Isaiah, glad to help.
What oil do you use on turkish walnut and also a oil that will make it have a glass finish and make it pop rathe than keeping it dark
I now use tung oil
Absolutely beautiful knife. I just found your channel and now....I'm off to see more of your knives. Thank you for the handle scale finishing video!
thanks Thomas i hope you enjoy!
Should skip the music and explain what you are doing
Not that kind of video sorry
@FosterandBoys I thought it was cool that you did the video without talking but you still made everything self evident. I'm going to take a run at this project today. Thanks
That was mesmerising watching you make that sheath man! Really lovely work and I learned a ton in the process. The sheath will last for centuries!
Probably not centuries lol
